our name

We get our name, Joshua House, from a guy in the Bible named Joshua, who was the leader of the people of Israel after Moses.  Joshua was trying to lead people that didn't want to follow the true God alone, but wanted to follow lots of other gods as well.  Joshua’s bold response was this:

“Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites...But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.” –Joshua 24:15  (TNIV)

In the midst of all of the lesser gods available to us today, like the god of material possessions, or of selfish pleasure, or of success, we choose to serve the true God with our lives.  Therefore, we call our community Joshua House, as a way of expressing our total commitment to serve God alone with our lives.
