sherry chapin

joshua house children's ministry coordinator 614.296.3267/ email sherry

What is your role at JH?
I am the Joshua House Children's Ministry Coordinator. I work with volunteers on Sunday nights so that kids can worship, learn about Jesus and pray at Joshua House.

What is the best part about your role?
The best part is when kids "get it." They've memorized their bible words and say them with conviction. They teach me so much about faith. During music worship, I love it when they sing and dance with everything they have.

 Where'd you grow up?
Concord California, which is part of the San Francisco Bay Area

 Family
You can see my husband Mike Chapin on Sunday nights at the Children's Info counter or playing worship for the Joshua House Kid's ministry. We have 3 sons, Derek, Gideon and Paul.

Fun stuff:

Heroes:
Children's Pastor Linda Heselton, Vineyard Leadership Director Steve Robbins and his wife Nancy, Urban Ministry Pastor Dan Franz, Value Life Ministry Pastor Diane Bauman, my small group Friday Night One, my Children's Ministry volunteers, Xingu Mission in Brazil Missionary Terry Price, Compassion International Founder Wes Stafford, Mother Teresa

Favorite Books:
Celebration of Discipline by Richard Foster, Job in the bible, Jane Austen's "chic lit", The Bronte Sisters, The #1 Ladies Detective Agency series by Alexander McCall Smith.

Favorite Music:
Anything by the band Third Day, Vineyard Worship Music, rock and roll.

Most embarrassing band on your ipod:
Even more embarrassing, I play cds on a boombox.

 Passions:
Jesus, Family and Friends, Church, People in general, Children's Ministry, the monthly homeless breakfast I serve with my small group at the YWCA Family Shelter, being on air at 104.9 the River.

If you could have 3 things in life:
I consider myself very blessed already. There is always room for more, but there is nothing I feel I'm lacking.

What makes you laugh:

British Humor like Monty Python, The Office, Tina Fey, when people "pocket dial" me (unknowingly calling me because their cell phone bumped against something), when my cats pause while cleaning themselves with their leg in the air and their tongue hanging out.

Favorite quotes:

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9

“We cannot do great things on this Earth, only small things with great love.” Mother Teresa

"You should always give,  because there is always someone less fortunate than you." My mom
