the twenty-something community of vineyard columbus

Every house is built upon a foundation. Vineyard Columbus and Joshua House are built upon the foundation of our theology, how we think about God. And on this foundation we construct our values, which are the ideas and attitudes that we feel are most important to emphasize as we live out our faith.
Values are all about what a church feels like, the atmosphere of the church, the ethos. It is possible for two churches to believe exactly the same doctrine, but to feel very different due to the differing value systems of the churches. Here are our Vineyard Values:
Responsiveness: We believe that Jesus is our Head and the Holy Spirit our Counselor and so we seek to be responsive to the leading of the Holy Spirit in every area of the church’s life and ministry. As part of our responsiveness, we are committed to “give away our best” whether people or resources in order to expand God’s Kingdom.
Reality: We want every expression of ours - whether the way we speak, the music we play, the architecture of our building, or the way we relate to each other - to be non-hyped, natural, and reality based.
Relevance: We want all of our music, messages, and ministry to be in touch with current culture, so that the ancient truth of God's Word can connect with people today. We don't assume that you know what a Philistine is, but we do assume that your chaotic, stressed-filled modern life would go much better if God were in control.
Relationships: We don’t want just a collection of individuals or a large crowd. God is looking for a people, a community who share a common value system. Following Jesus happens in the context of relationships, not in isolation.
Righteousness: We seek completely truthful, consistent and open relationships with God, with others, and with ourselves. We want to be changing more and more into the people that God made us to be.
